Current research interests
My research interests focus on the study oxide surfaces and interfaces, mainly TiO2, MgO and ZnO, and principally on their surface defects characterisation at the atomic scale by scanning probe microscopies (scanning tunnelling microscopy and atomic force microscopy) and x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. These defects can play a major role in the interaction of these surfaces with small molecules (reactivity towards H2O, CO…) and the initial growth mode of thin metallic films (nanoparticles, thin films…), which is also main topic of my work.
Finally, thin metal-oxide films supported on metals can present various properties that vary from the bulk, e.g. stoichiometry, different stabilised orientations leading to different reactive sites.
Metal oxide surfaces (TiO2, MgO…), model catalyst, hydroxylation and hydratation, growth, wetting and adhesion, oxide nano-objects: thin films and nanoparticles, atomic and electronic structure.
Surface science, characterisation and ultra-high vacuum techniques (scanning probe microscopy, X-ray, Auger and UV spectroscopy, resonant photoelectron spectroscopy, Low energy electron diffraction), synchrotron radiation techniques (surface x-ray diffraction, grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering, near edge x-ray absorption fine structure).
