Geoffroy Prévot, new director of INSP since January 5, 2026
After obtaining a PhD in physics from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 1999 on surface diffusion and atomic vibrations of vicinal surfaces, under the supervision of Camille Cohen, Geoffroy Prévot joined Claude Henry’s group at CRMC2 in Marseille, where he studied supported model catalysts for the CO+NO reaction. He was recruited by the CNRS in 2000 to the GPS, one of the laboratories that gave rise to the INSP. His work then focused on the study of elastic relaxations in the vicinity of nano-textured surfaces. He subsequently became interested in bimetallic nanoparticles, in relation to their catalytic properties, and then in the growth and structure of graphene analogues.
Geoffroy Prévot has been involved in numerous activities in the service of the community. Among other things, he was a member of the CNRS national committee between 2008 and 2012, the SOLEIL synchrotron program committee, and the board of several GDRs. At the INSP, he headed the Physico-Chemistry and Surface Dynamics team for 11 years. For the past two years, he has been deputy director of the INSP.
